Eating Healthy Starts with Healthy Choices
While many of us know the importance of eating healthy and following special dietary guidelines, it's not always easy to choose the foods we should be eating. That is why we're excited to bring you the Nutrition Guide, a program that makes shopping healthy easier and less time consuming.
The Nutrition Guide identifies six attributes supported by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) nutrient health standards. These attributes include Low Fat, Low Sodium, High Fiber, Gluten Free, Sugar Free and Low Calorie. If a food meets one or more of these guidelines a checkmark will appear on the shelf tag to help guide you in your food selections.
Balance, moderation and variety are the cornerstones of good nutrition. America tends to be "super-sizing" food portions these days, and many individuals are surprised to see what one serving size actually looks like. Double check actually serving sizes by measuring or weighing the food and remember that some cooking methods as well as seasonings can change the nutritional content of a food.
